Work Trade Policy

We are offering 40 worktrade positions.
Worktraders pay $150 plus do 8 hours of work at the event (or fulfill agreed upon tasks beforehand).

Wortraders should expect to miss some class periods to fulfill their worktrade. Worktrade positions involving set-up or take-down are for people who can come early and/or stay late.

Steps:

1) Fill out the online Worktrade form (see below).

2) Our worktrade coordinator will read it and get back to you to discuss your jobs. Those accepted will get a code to register for the half price.

3) You register and pay the $150 and then you are confirmed.

4) You will be put in touch with the person in charge of the particular jobs you will be working on.

There will be a worktraders orientation on May 7, Thursday at the Finnriver Cidery in Chimacum just prior to the Gala Reception there.

There will also be a short worktraders meeting in the breakfast period on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the people working on that day. This will be held in the downstairs dining room in the Dormitory building.

Here are the various worktrade jobs:

Dormitory kitchen.

We will have a kitchen for people staying in the Dormitory. This includes prep, serving and cleanup.

AV Filming and Audio-visual:

Technical help with documentation is one of our biggest needs. Video recording (using your own camera or phone). Assisting with power point set up and troubleshooting.

Sign-making and placement.

Some of this can be done ahead of time. Key time is Thursday morning.

Cleaning/tidying some of our main venue buildings. The Commons, USO Hall, Dormitory and Barracks

Someone needs to be on top of cleaning needs, chair arrangements, etc.

Tea Kitchen,

Making, serving, cleaning.

Parking:

At peak arrival times. 2 people on shifts. Monitoring and assisting parking to go smoothly. Moving directional signs as needed.

Sanitation: Monitor bathrooms and porta-potties and clean frequently touched surfaces.

Set-up. Must be on site by 7:30 am May 7.

Take down/ Clean up . Stay on site Monday till everything is taken down and cleaned up. Aiming for 7:00 pm or earlier.

Teacher’s Assistant (TAs)

Show up 10 minutes early to ready the classroom, be on call to assist the presenter.

~ Table and chair arranging before the session if needed.

~Make sure water is on hand.

~Introduce the presenter.

~Collect evaluation forms at the end and bring them to the registration desk.

Ideally each workshop will have a TA. Our goal is that the TA wants to take that particular class.

Work trade payment.

Worktraders can pay their half-price admission fee by registering online using our regular registration form. You will get a special code.

Refund policy:

$100 refund if cancellation is before April 15.

$60 if before May 1.

No refund after May 1.

A few words about Accommodations:

* Our lowest cost housing at Fort Worden is the Barracks at $140 for 4 nights stay. And the Dormitory at $190 for 4 nights. This must be paid ahead of time through our registration portal.

* We will arrange some camping areas in the Port Townsend area. There may be a small charge.

* You can make your own arrangements.

A few words about food.

* The catered meals are $25 to $30 each and can be purchased online

* We will have a dormitory kitchen, mainly for people residing in the Dormitory. They will be by donation, suggested $12.meal.

* People can take of their own food needs.
